Abstract
The article explorers various images of Buryat traditional culture reflected in Soviet documentary films in 1920-1980. The authors discuss the dynamics of those images and the principles of their engagement with a broader context of Soviet epoch and Soviet “moder nization” analyzing patterns of representations of culture throughout visual documentary sources.
