Comparative Analysis in Sociology: Strategies and Methodological Issues

Abstract

The paper is an attempt to define the problems of theory and methodology of comparative analysis in sociology. It starts with an evaluation of comparison as a method of scientific discovery in the social sciences and natural sciences. Discussion follows with a review of current debates in comparative sociology. As an outcome the authors formulate basic problems of comparative research in contemporary sociology.
