Abstract

This paper rethinks the theory of multiple modernities and deals with the phenomenon of Siberian identity. The series of interviews with experts provide an analysis of the dynamics of civilizational identity of Siberia from the beginning of its first conceptual expression by Siberian regionalists in the middle of the XIX century to present time. The author discusses the relevance of the ideas of Siberian regionalism for contemporary Russia. He explores the phenomenon of Siberian identity and analyzes the potential of Siberian separatism.
