Revisiting Reality on Distant Shores: A Review of the XX ISA World Congress of Sociology and the XXVII IPSA World Congress of Political Science

Abstract

The summer of 2023 saw two major international academic forums for sociologists and political scientists. The XX World Congress on "Resurgent Authoritarianism: The Sociology of New Entanglements of Religions, Politics, and Economies" was held by the International Sociological Association (ISA) from June 25 to July 1 in Melbourne, Australia. The International Political Science Association (IPSA) organized its XXVII World Congress in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, on July 15-19. The theme of the political science Congress was "Politics in the Age of Transborder Crises: Vulnerability and Resilience".
