Abstract

This article is dedicated to Russian historians of the early twentieth century, examines their ideas related to the revolution, and their direct or indirect participation in revolutionary activities. In Russia, especially since the XIX century, the elite actively participated in socio-political reforms. To the group of intelligentsia belonged thinkers, philosophers, and publicists. Their discussions were usually built on the basis of historical views. However, few of the intelligentsia were considered professional historians who studied, taught history and had rich historical views. This paper attempts to examine the role of historians during the revolution (before and after 1917).
