Аннотация

История электронных технологий хотя и проходит на наших глазах, но фактически плохо документирована на бумаге, искажена пристрастиями коммерческих, политических и социокультурных интересов, позиций и тайн. Авторы стремятся представить объективную картину противоборства открытых и коммерчески закрытых программных продуктов на всех уровнях, с участием всех основных движущих сил и в различных перспективах. Microsoft и его противники; новаторы, дельцы, последователи и пользователи; социальные группы и движения, корпоративные и институциональные структуры, правительственные и межгосударственные органы, решения, акты и политика; социокультурные условия, смысл и последствия; экономическая, социологическая, технологическая, моральная и историческая оптика. Противоречия, о которых идет речь в статье, обновляются ежедневно в сообщениях СМИ, Интернета и новых продуктах. История является повседневным фактом настоящего и порождает наше будущее.
