Abstract. The article deals with the post-divorce behavior, a topic that became relevant in the mid-1970s. There are several trends in the study of this issue. There are several tendencies in studying of the matter. The first is related to the work of J. Bernard «The future of marriage» and concentrates on the gender specifics in the perception of a divorce. The second trend originates with the release of G. Becker's "The treatise on the family". The research in this direction is aimed at identifying the relationship between the probability of remarriage and the social status of partners. Another research focus is set by K.B. Hackstaff's book «Marriage in a culture of divorce». K.B. Hackstaff interprets divorce as "built in" marriage and as a new norm.

Starting from the latter point of view the author of the proposed article sets the task to reconstruct the trajectory of marital behavior after the divorce. The materials of in-depth interviews with informants who have experience of divorce have revealed strategies for post-divorce behavior depending on their experience of the situation of divorce (as a trauma, as a release or a formal fixation of an already non-existing union) and their own role in the process of divorce (the initiator or the left partner). The author draws the conclusion that the couple's own behavior and behavior of the former marriage partner is assessed according to the moral rules of divorce. Thus, spouses condemn the building of a new partnership in the first year after the divorce, which is defined as "betrayal" in relation to the disintegrated marriage; their own post-divorce career is also constructed in accordance with this rule.

Keywords: marital behavior, post-divorce behavior, biography of divorce, life course.
